National Smile Month: Brands Encouraging Their Customers to Smile

This National Smile Month We Look At The Brands Encouraging Their Customers to Smile

National Smile Month 2021 is 17th May to 17th June

UK National Smile Month is organised by oral health charity the British Dental Health Foundation. The purpose of National Smile Month is to reach as many people as possible with helpful oral health information. However, this year we think National Smile Month should be used to celebrate more than just looking after our own smiles - as who doesn’t need to share an extra grin these days?!

Sharing a smile can be the most meaningful part of someone’s day; helping yourself and others to release stress. When you smile, your body releases endorphins (even when you force a smile!) which make you feel happy, can improve your overall health, and can even reduce your blood pressure. Our team work with a host of brands and charities that are going the extra mile to make others smile. Here are some examples of what our brands are up to this National Smile Month, and what you can do to #shareyoursmile.

SmileTime

As a self-proclaimed ‘oral cosmetics’ brand, SmileTime works continuously throughout the year to encourage a healthy and happy person behind every smile, as well as nice pearly whites. Their new SmileTime Warriors campaign is a great display of this, and how they encourage people to feel good, and master what they love, by supporting a selection of people at the top of their game - who have overcome hardships and are now on the other side of it, successful and smiling. This campaign kicked off on 17th May with SmileTime’s announcement that they are sponsoring Olympic Boxing pro, Jordan Reynolds.

VTESSIA Cosmetics

VTESSIA Cosmetics creates long-term solutions for postpartum hair loss - a condition that can be very distressing to new mums, and often affects their confidence. Vicktesha, founder of VTESSIA Cosmetics, believes that,

Cosmetics should enhance our confidence, be affordable and promote acceptance, not pressuring us to hide our flaws. That’s why VTESSIA cosmetics celebrate each woman’s uniqueness because every woman is amazing!

Her efforts have seen women previously suffering with confidence issues smiling again, with amazing results and a supportive community of young black mothers sharing their tips on feeling their best after childbirth.

The Brand Whisperer

We wouldn’t be much good at publicity if we didn’t practice what we preach! At The Brand Whisperer we’re continuously on the hunt for companies that are ethical, sustainable, and are on a mission to create a positive change. We also like to share this message throughout our own agency, and do our bit where we can to create a positive impact on others.

Siena, founder of The Brand Whisperer, has just finished working on various projects with Re-Balance, a charity working with global communities to promote mental health and wellbeing alongside highlighting discrimination, to create change, and a more equal setting for all.

Natasha Cassidy, our energetic and brilliant PR intern, recently published her own magazine as part of her degree (check out Blind Eye Publications) on societal welfare and consumerism, with all profits being donated to racial discrimination charities and animal rights groups.

What Can You Do?

As an Employer, Business Owner or Manager, it is important to understand that improving the lives of those around is essential for your business growth, as well as your employee welfare. Sharing a smile is one thing, but creating a happy workplace has been shown to improve the workforce’s mental health, and is an amazing morale booster, which will increase your staff productivity. Here are our top three tips for creating a happier workplace:

  • Have conversations. Yes, actual conversations and not ones that always revolve around work. A simple compliment, chat or coffee can provide critical support for those in your workplace who may be struggling with their mental health, or just feeling lonely

  • Work with a charity that aligns with the company values. Working with a charity is an amazing way to help your team bond over a project that is meaningful to them, whilst improving your brands’ reputation

  • Create a workplace environment that is inclusive and open, with equal opportunities. Having a workplace that reflects what we see when you step outside the office doors is an important way to create a comfortable working environment. Championing diversity and inclusion is an easy way to maintain an environment that everyone feels comfortable in.
